Hi, my name is Sanzhar Bissenali! I love learning, enjoy reading books and hiking, and like sharing what I learn with others. For the past two years at Caltech, I’ve explored all kinds of interests, both academic and not. Along the way, my tastes have changed quite a bit — I went from organic chemistry to quantum information, from hating literature to really enjoying it, and from listening to American pop to Russian rap.

I started this blog in the end of my freshman year with a clear goal - to record how my views and tastes change over time. You may find more elaborate explanation here - Zachem Ya Vedu Blog.

Lately, I have become increasingly interested in Understanding Deep Learning and Mechanistic Interpretability. I’m following Neel Nanda’s guide to getting into the field, and I’ll share my progress in the Mech. Interp. folder. Hopefully, when(or if) I get to the frontiers, it will be helpful information for beginners.
